HighTree Chalets
Soak the stress away, watch the wildlife, chase the clouds, or dream the day away
… all you need to do is relax your way.
So, how did the Chalets come about?
Max and Marilyn Eckhold bought the land, originally an old refuge sanctuary, back in 1970 when it was stony and undeveloped. In 1980, they turned the last naturally swampy area on the farm into a lake, planting trees and natives around the water’s edge. The natural creek called Tenby, which runs along the back side of the lake, filled the lake slowly. In 1994, it was estimated that 7,000 ducks and 800 Canadian geese were on the lake. A sanctuary for many.
Throughout the years, we have put huge effort into improving and enhancing the natural space and planting more natives around the lake. There are always more plants to plant which support, generate, and maintain the natural ecosystem. A plan was devised during the last few years on how we can share the unique space we are so grateful for.
The two highly spec’d chalets were conceived with a mission to help guests recharge, reset, and rejuvenate. We wanted to offer magnificent surroundings mixed with activities to help our guests disconnect from a busy life and relax together.
And so, our story begins…
Our vision
To create a destination to relax, explore, and unwind together.
A private lake sounds just the ticket!
